BARRY HORST - Center Director / Master - Math - SAT prep, ACT prep, Elem. Ed., Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry

I graduated with an elementary education degree from Calvin College.  I have taught in New Mexico, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

I taught in Philadelphia for four years and was the only teacher at my school who never received a negative parental complaint

I tutor math.  In fact I love math; I think it's fun! My wife has even caught me reading a math textbook just for fun!

I have tutored students of all ages--7 to 20-year-olds--I still hear from many of them.

I have worked out with Philadelphia's soccer team, the Kixx; Philadelphia's arena football team, the Soul; and the mascot for the 76ers - his name is Bill.  We used to go to the same church before I moved to SC.

I love the outdoors, and adventure sports.  In fact I once fell 30+ feet while rock climbing and not only survived, but got up to climb again.

I am most likely the one with whom you will speak when you call!

I am a student at Eastside Highschool (GO EAGLES!!!) and I LOVE my job!  (All my friends are jealous)

I would love to talk with you if you choose to stay and wait for your student, and it IS ok if you interupt my work (Barry says so!).

ANNA  - Master - Special Ed - ELA - Reading Comprehension, Early Reading, Learning to Read, Writing, and Early Math

I specialize in working with students who have learning disabilities, such as ADD, Autism, and Dyslexia.

I am also quite good at helping students read their first word, simple math and writing.  I have a lot of patience and bring new ideas and strategies to help students with unique learning styles see learning in their own individual way.

I graduated from Bob Jones University in 2006 with a degree in Special Education specializing in Learning Disabilities.

I teach some of the most wonderful students at Gateway Elementary and have done so for 3 years!

During my summers I work at an autistic school in Delaware.  I just finished my sixth year there!

I am learning to surf!  In fact I was so skilled that the very first time I caught a wave, I ended up with a black eye!

I love to teach elementary aged students!  Just one of the many reasons I love of this age is because they are the only ones with whom I can truly see eye to eye!  (I'm kinda short)  :)

 - STEFANIE -

STEFANIE  - Master - Elementary Ed - ELA - Reading Comprehension, Early Reading, Writing, and Math

I am fortunate to have a job that I love!  I currently teach second grade where I daily strive to make learning enjoyable and applicable to my students' lives.

I love reading, writing, spending time outside on the lake, hiking, or cooking.  I'm a pretty good cook, which is bad because I love to eat great food.  Thus, I’m forced to exercise!  However, I actually like that too!

I have a pet cat named Shiloh who was abandoned as a kitten.  I saved her when I adopted her from a shelter!

I’m originally from Anderson, South Carolina but spent most of my childhood in Clearwater, Florida and Charlotte, North Carolina.

I moved back "home" to attend Anderson University.  After graduating with my Bachelors in Elementary Education I began teaching in Greenville County.

I’m currently working on my Master’s at Southern Wesleyan University and look forward to applying all of the things I’ve learned in the classroom!

One of my many claims to fame is that I have read Frank Herbert’s science fiction classic Dune sixteen times; however, my claim to shame is that I have read Frank Herbert’s science fiction classic Dune sixteen times.

CHRISTINA WILSON - Master - ELA - SAT prep, Elem. Ed., beginning reading skills,

I am a highly qualified ELA and elementary education teacher with a master’s degree from Converse College.

I love teaching, however, I took a break from the classroom to stay at home with my son Thomas Wyatt after his arrival in 2005 and now work as a freelance journalist for The Spartanburg Herald-Journal and Greer Herald and as a public relations consultant with my own LLC!

As a tutor, I am able to instill in children my own joy of reading and writing for discovery and learning, personal expression, communication and entertainment.

I have taught both tenth grade English and fifth grade and enjoy watching children of all ages learn!  I also love their individuality, enthusiasm and spirit.

Aside from roles as mom, educator and reading enthusiast, I am a motorcycle aficionado. I started riding a 1200 custom Sportster a decade ago and have since owned four different big twin motorcycles, however, I now ride a 2006 Big Dog K9 chopper.
