A on midterm
Bet I can get an A
Ok, so for this story, let me give you a little background. This girl, we'll call her Addie because well, that's her name. So anyhow, Addie comes into Wired Minds with her mom and informs me that she has been getting straight F's in Math. I like Math. I think all students should like math. Addie does not like Math, or rather, did not like Math. Addie worked her tail off at Wired Minds, and her mom actaully joined the sessions so they could reinforce what she learned in school and at Wired Minds at home. After a few weeks, Addie informed me that she liked Math, and that she was going to get an A on her next test. After all of the F's that she had been getting, I wasn't sure that her goal was realistic, and I told her so. She apparently is one of those kinds of kids who doesn't like to be told what she can't do. I like that in students, it shows me they have some spunk. Addie has LOTS of spunk. I pushed her further, and said I'd bet her a nickel that she'd not get an A. Apparently Addie doesn't like to turn down challenges. She pushed back - hard. "If I get an A on my test, you have to shave your legs!"
